Harry Krug was born Jan. 24, 1878, on the family farm eight miles south of Russell. He died on Sept. 4, 1968, at the AlaFern Skilled Nursing Home at Russell. He was 90 years, 7 months and 11 days old.

The son of George Henry and Elizabeth (Boxberger) Krug, he was the fifth of nine children, and the first to be born in this country. The family came to America in 1877. He was baptized in infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.

On Jan. 20, 1907, he married Pauline Dumler in the Bender Hill Church. The settled on a farm about a mile west of the original family farm home. There were two sons. They retired from active farming and established their home at 207 Kansas St. in 1935.

Mrs. Krug died on Dec. 18, 1966 at the Hadley Hospital in Hays, where she had been a patient for 3 1/2 years. Mr. Krug was a patient at the AlaFern Home for three years before his death.

Survivors are the sons, Albert and Herbert, both of Russell; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were all his brothers and sisters, Mrs. Catherine Elsasser, Henry, Jacob, Adam, Mrs. Anna Elasser, William, Mrs. Lena Morgenstern and Fred H. Krug.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 7, from the Deines Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. and from St. John Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Rev. R. G. Sedo officiated. Organist was Mrs. Howard Vladar. Hymns were "Jesus, Still Lead On" and "Oh, Take My Hand, Dear Father."
Paul bearers were LeRoy Krug, Harry Krug, Gunnar Alkanis, Morris Krug, Robert Krug and Wilmer Krug. Burial was in the Russell City Cemetery. Deines Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.
